Author Guidelines

Aim and Scope

Eurasian Journal of Anthropology (EJA) analyzes and presents research relating to the social, biological, bio-cultural, and archaeological anthropology of Eurasia and contiguous regions. The journal is published bi-annualy. This international peer-reviewed e-journal will publish papers and develops discussions on a wide range of research topics of both living human populations and past societies including:

The EJA publishes scientific articles without page restriction as well as invited commentaries, book reviews and short reports. Manuscript submitted elsewhere will not be considered for publication. The purpose of the journal is to stimulate debate on and development of ideas and methods in anthropology and related disciplines.

Author Guidelines

The Eurasian Journal of Anthropology (EJA)  has a fully online submission and online reviewing system. This system offers authors the option of tracking by online based review process of their manuscripts. All manuscripts must be submitted with online from the system by registering.   

 

HOW TO PREPARE MANUSCRIPTS

Manuscript Presentation

The journal's language is English. British English or American English spelling and terminology may be used, but either one should be followed consistently throughout the article. The manuscript should be modified APA Referencing System.

Papers should be prepared with Microsoft Word in .doc or .rtf file format. Format paragraph text using the 'Normal' style in the styles menu. This puts a space before each paragraph so that a blank line is not required to separate paragraphs and automatically sets the text to double line, full justified, 11 pt Times New Roman Font layout Format the Title of the paper using the 'Title' style in the styles menu, use the 'Abstract' style for the abstract and the 'Quotation' style for paragraph quotes.

 

Quotations
Quotations less than three lines long should be incorporated into the text using double quotation marks. For longer quotations (more than three lines or two sentences), use 'Quotation' style in the styles menu.

Number the pages consecutively with the first page containing;

· running head (shortened title)

· title

· author(s)

· affiliation(s)

full address for correspondence, including telephone and fax number, e-mail address and related subject area

 

Second page

  • Abstract: Please provide a short abstract of 100 to 250 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.

 

  • Key words: Please provide 3 to 5 key words or short phrases.

 

Third and following pages

  • Section Headings
    First-, second-, third-, and fourth-order headings should be clearly distinguishable.

 

Notes
Please use endnotes rather than footnotes. Notes should be indicated by consecutive superscript numbers in the text and listed at the end of the article before the References. A source reference note should be indicated by means of an asterisk after the title. This note should be placed at the bottom of the first page.

Acknowledgements
Acknowledgements of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section before the References.

 

References
In the text, references to the literature should be cited by author's surname followed by year of publication. If there are multiple citations, present them chronologically. When references are made to more than one paper by the same author published in the same year, they should be designated in the text as (White, 1995a,b) and in the Literature Cited as follows:

Abbreviations of journal titles should follow those used in Index Medicus.

 

Tables
Each table should be numbered consecutively. In tables, footnotes are preferable to long explanatory material in either the heading or body of the table. Such explanatory footnotes, identified by superscript letters, should be placed immediately below the table. Please provide a caption (without abbreviations) to each table, refer to the table in the text and note its approximate location in the margin. Finally, please place the tables after the figure legends in the manuscript.

Figures
All photographs, graphs and diagrams should be referred to as a Figure and they should be numbered consecutively. Multi-part figures ought to be labeled with lower case letters (a, b, etc.). Please insert keys and scale bars directly in the figures. Relatively small text and great variation in text sizes within figures should be avoided as figures are often reduced in size. Figures may be sized to fit approximately within the column(s) of the journal. Provide a detailed legend (without abbreviations) to each figure, refer to the figure in the text and note its approximate location in the margin. Please place the legends in the manuscript after the references.

 

Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author. One corrected proof, together with the original, edited manuscript, should be returned to the Publisher within three days of receipt by e-mail (pdf version).

 

Page Charges and Color Figures
No page charges are levied on authors or their institutions except for color pages.

 

Copyright
Before the manuscript can be sent for proof, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer form, and return it to the editorial office at the Pamukkale University, Faculty of Education, Department of Science Education, Incilipinar – Denizli, Turkey. A copyright transfer form can be obtained from the editorial office eja@eurasianjournals.com. If the manuscript is not accepted for publication after proof, the copyright form will be returned to the authors.

 

Permission
It is the responsibility of the author to obtain written permission for a quotation from unpublished material, or for all quotations in excess of 250 words in one extract or 500 words in total from any work still in copyright, and for the reprinting of figures, tables or poems from unpublished or copyrighted material.

All figures and tables should be put into the text (not a seperate page) and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals throughout the paper. Footnotes to tables should be with lower-case letters. Line drawings are preferable to photographs. Scanned graphs are less preferred and acceptable only if adequately resolved. Inscriptions should be clearly legible. Letters 2–3 mm high are recommended in the desired final size. Half-tone illustrations, if any, should be well contrasted and trimmed at right angles in the desired final size. Graphs should not be present in large format (e. g. A4 full size), but rather in a typical size of 6—8 cm.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
